Can you solve this riddle?

4 is cosmic. Everything goes back to 4. For instance, 7 goes to 5, 5 goes to 4, and 4 is cosmic. 11 goes to 6, 6 goes to 3, 3 goes to 5, 4 goes to 4,and 4 is cosmic. Why do all these numbers go back to 4 and why is 4 cosmic?
