There is a nine-letter word in the english language. Every time you take away a letter, it becomes a DIFFERENT word in the english language.

I'll give you a hint.
Start with all the letters(#1 through #9).
Then take away the following letters in the following order.

#9
#1
#8

You will end up with a one-letter word.
