Can you solve this riddle?

A lawyer is in a building. He has a suitcase in his hand and he is running down the hallway. When the lawyer looks up, he sees the lights flicker. He then lowers his head, turns around and walks away. Why did he turn around? (hint: think of what's in the suitcase and why did the lights flicker?)
