Can you solve this riddle?

You are stuck in a room. There is one door but it is locked from the outside and there is a small heat vent that is not on. All you have in the room is your pet mouse. All that is on the outside is a ladder and chest. How do you get out?

Before you got locked in, you trained your mouse to go in the heat vent. You told him to find his way to the chest. Then he had to climb the ladder and unlock the door.
