Can you solve this riddle?

Two poor mothers and two poor daughters went shopping and bought shoes. They couldn't afford to buy four pairs of shoes but they bought three pairs instead! Why?

There was a grandmother that had a daughter. That daughter had a daughter. That made her a mom so she was both mother and daughter. In the end, there were only three women and only needed three pairs of shoes.
