Can you solve this riddle?

A man takes his donkeys up the mountain. After a few minutes he stops to make sure that there are 30 donkeys so he gets off his donkey and fortunately counts 30. About 5 minutes later, paranoid whether he still has 30, he looks back and counts 29 and realizes one has disappeared. Shocked by, this he gets off and by the time he counts them all, the 30th donkey is there. How is this?

He forgot to count the one he was sitting on.
